Nokia N8 hardware actually cost only USD 187

According to the researcher iSuppli Corp, the N8 hardware cost around $187.47 which is just 4 cents less than that of the iPhone 4 ($187.51). The N8 sells for 529 euros ($733) on Nokia’s Finnish website and $549 on its U.S. website, sim free. Apple's iPhone 4 sells for $748.99 unlocked on Amazon’s U.S. site, or $199 from Apple with a two- year AT&T contract.
The most expensive of the components is the screen with an estimated cost of $39.25 for that part alone. The N8 screen is a 3.5-inch AMOLED and is built by Samsung with a touch controller from Synaptics. The chipset for the Symbian OS costs $22, the 16GB of flash storage is $37.12, and the camera element costs $31.08.
